Which has more caffeine: light or dark roasted coffee? This is a common coffee question people have. Bean for bean, the caffeine content is the same whether the coffee roasted to a light or dark level.
Where it does get confusing is that the beans of a light roasted coffee are denser so if you were to scoop by volume, it would appear that light roasted coffee has more caffeine. When a coffee is roasted to a dark level, the beans expand more and have less mass, so if you were to weight coffee by mass, it’d appear that dark roasted coffee has more caffeine.
Finding a coffee you enjoy whether it is a light roast or a dark roast and preparing it well will give you that jolt you seek!
